Why St Jude matters to me

I'm using the pic linked to this post, from the St Jude Jam Memphis last year, for a couple reasons...first, the obvious..it's me and rock hall of famer Mike Mills from the legendary band REM. And yes, that was a pretty cool moment...but that leads me the main reason. My T says This Shirt Saves Lives and that's exactly what St Jude does. The hospital solely exists to end childhood cancer and they freely share their research worldwide. And no patient ever receives a bill for anything ever. And that takes a lot greenbacks..2.7 mil a day to be exact.. And that's why we (Sixwire) do several shows a year like that, the St Jude Jam at the FedEx Forum. To do what we can to help out, to help the kids. Because Cancer Sucks, and losing just one child to it is one too many. Over the past 10 years, we have been involved in raising over $20 million dollars for St Jude, and out of all the cool things I have been blessed to do, that could very well be the coolest because that is what really matters. Over the years we have had an amazing lineup of artists we've backed up who donated their time and talents, and who are do it for the same reason. And it always rocks and I can't wait till the next one. And even if you can't make a show, you can still help out. The "This Shirt Saves Lives" T I have on is available at www.StJude.org for a small donation. If you get one, you will see, the shirt really does "save lives"! And how cool is that!

The short story of Sixwire...8/8/19

Formed from the bond of five "brothers" who have played together since their early days as Lee Greenwood's band, Sixwire's first Warner Brothers Records album release debuted in the top 30, and spawned the chart hits LOOK AT ME NOW and WAY TOO DEEP. Touring followed with the top artists of that time, and included appearances with Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Martina McBride, Phil Vassar, and others. Sixwire members served as the house band on USA Network's NASHVILLE STAR for three seasons, then temporarily relocated to Los Angeles where they were featured on FOX’s THE NEXT GREAT AMERICAN BAND. Sixwire returned to Nashville to become the house band for CMT's CAN YOU DUET and CMT’s NEXT SUPERSTAR.

A call from ABC and LION'S GATE landed the members of Sixwire in a different role, as the backing band for character 'Rayna Jaymes' played by actress CONNIE BRITTON on ABC's dramatic series titled 'NASHVILLE'. The series filmed entirely on location in Nashville, and members of Sixwire were seen regularly in scenes with Britton, and also with co-star CHARLES ESTEN, who played the character 'Deacon Claybourne'. Sixwire joined Esten and many other cast members on tour when not filming, throughout the television show’s six-year run.

Through the years, members of Sixwire have played in the bands for FAITH HILL, ALABAMA, RANDY TRAVIS, RICHARD MARX, DELBERT McCLINTON, PHIL VASSAR, STEVE WARINER, PAM TILLIS, DOLLY PARTON, OLIVIA NEWTON JOHN, VINCE GILL, LEE GREENWOOD, DON FELDER and many others. Sixwire members have written songs that have been recorded by TIM McGRAW, BROOKS & DUNN, CHRIS CAGLE, SIR CLIFF RICHARD, LEE GREENWOOD, JOHN MICHAEL MONTGOMERY, GEORGE CANYON, PHIL VASSAR, CAROLYN DAWN JOHNSON, and many more. Collectively, Sixwire members have been seen on television programs that include AMERICAN IDOL, ABC's NASHVILLE, FOX's NEXT GREAT AMERICAN BAND, USA Network's NASHVILLE STAR, CMT's CAN YOU DUET, CMT's NEXT SUPERSTAR, THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH JAY LENO, THE LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN, SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, THE TODAY SHOW, GOOD MORNING AMERICA, THE VIEW, THE GRAMMY AWARDS, CMT's FLAMEWORTHY AWARDS, THE ACM AWARDS, THE CMA AWARDS, and many more. Sixwire has been featured entertainment at Super Bowl LI, the Daytona 500, the Bob Hope Classic, the NHL All-Star Game, the NHL Stanley Cup Final and most recently the NFL Draft , as well as being the house band for the 40th Anniversary Charlie Daniels Volunteer Jam and the yearly Academy Of Country Music Awards All-Star Jam and Decades show.
